We bring something new to Scottish politics.
Our primary focus is on ideas that are currently completely overlooked in political debate. Our polices would tackle many problems to which the current Holyrood parties have no answer.
In order to unite the broadest coalition of voters who agree with our core values, we do not take a position on some controversial issues. All parties do this, but the issues that we regard as central, such as human life, are different than the issues that other parties regard as central, such as unionism or nationalism.
We urge voters to choose the party that best reflects their values, rather than the least bad option out of the main parties. In a democracy, it’s election day that really counts. There’s no point voting for a party that opposes your values and then spending the next five years complaining about it! We urge voters to reflect on the moral gravity of supporting a party that does not value huan life, for example.
As a political party in Scotland, our primary goal to gain election into the Scottish Parliament through the regional list system. We fight local, Scottish and General elections, but it is the more proportional system for regional MSPs that presents us with our greatest opportunity.
Scottish Family Party MSPs would have a transformative effect on the parliament and wider political and media debate. From this platform, we could start to increase public understanding and appreciation of our values and principles and how they can enhance life across Scotland. In turn, this could lead to increasing support and SFP representation in Councils and Parliaments, leading to playing a part in coalitions and ultimately forming the Scottish Government.
Let’s not get too carried way just yet. It’s a mountain to climb, but we’re climbing!
Next objective on the horizon: MSPs.
